Title: SOLD ~ 85 K100 $1500-last price drop
Post by: zilla on August 26, 2014, 05:32:54 PM
Selling my 85 K100. My best estimate mileage is around 40-45000. The instrument cluster has been replaced once according to the previous owner.
The tach is sticking. Fuel lights aren't accurate at all.

Bike runs and rides fine.  I've put around 2000 miles on it. The only issue i've had is with some crappy fuel.
It's not a showbike.

I do have a Corbin seat a friend is trying to repair. It had been repaired before, so I it already doesn't look the greatest.
I did get a folder full of reciepts for work done by the previous owners along with the original bill of sale.

The only reason i'm selling is i've got a couple other bikes I need to put more time and effort into.

The bike is located in Freeport Il.

My asking price is $1500 and i'm firm on that.

New Edit..... She got new brake pads last week.
New Duro tires last year. MAYBE 1000 miles on them.

See there is still a live ad on Craig's for this bike. Man I wish you were closer, love that color and wouldn't mind having a S for putting around.  Good luck with your sale.

Thanks, but I've about given up trying to sell it.

A few little things to take care of, (tires, lube splines, add heated grips) and I guess i'll ride it till it dies.
Which may be a while.

Don't give up. You'll get there. Tough time of year to be moving bikes....although I just bought one. An ''86 LT....$1,400 Canadian with about 60,000 miles on her. Filthy, but cleaning up nicely. Our buck is taking a kicky with the oil meltdown so it'll be a tougher sell north of the 49th...but shouldn't be too bad your side. I've seen plenty in the $3000 to $4000 range - they looked better but that's paint, elbow grease and a few repairs. Good luck.

I'll be ordering new tires tis week. Not sure how old the on it now are, but I've had more than a couple interesting moments on it.

My VFR has my little workshop tied up right now, but when I pull the back wheel, I want to check and lube the splines.

Good luck with the splines. I was very pleasantly surprised by the condition of mine. I've never seen brand new ones but mine can't be far off!

Thanks. The bike has had most of it's service done at Mischler's BMW by the previous owners. I have most of the receipts to prove it.

Anyway, my job situation is most likely changing, and i'll have about a forty minute commute. So I see myself riding to work a lot. Well once the weather gets a little over freezing I will.

Ahhh...I saw that you mentioned Mischler's in your post, which must mean you're somewhere near Beaver Dam? I remember years ago the Mischler's used to put on a weekend of short track and scrambles races at (or very near) their farm. Saturday night short track and sunday scrambles made for a nice week-end get away...camp out, etc. My kids used to race in those races...lots of fun. Just wondered if they still had those races around there? This must go back to early 80's or thereabouts?

I live in Northern Illinois, just south of the Cheddar Curtain.

I stopped at Mischler's a few years ago when I had my Tiger 1050, and needed a turn signal bulb. Same bulb as most BMW's.

I try to avoid the Chicago area like the plague, so I don't mind the ride/drive there.

Bumping it back to the top.

The Significant Other is having a hard time riding with me on it.

Has a New( well less than 1000 miles on them) Duro tires.

Splines still aren't done, but I've been riding it on a regular basis, and once I got the crap fuel burnt out of it again, it's running good.

You still have the bike for sale?  Wonder what it would cost shipping to NY?

Thanks

I would like to purchase.  I have to look how much shipping wood cost me to NY.  I am 30 miles north of NYC.   I bought a 1986 K100 RT the beginning of the summer and my first BMW and fell in love with BMW.  Would like to buy this one for my brother so I can have a ridding buddy.

Read in the Moto Guzzi forum that Haul Bikes (http://haulbikes.com/) is running an "anywhere to anywhere" in the US special for $499.  Can't beat that price anywhere and Haul Bikes has a good reputation.
