Hello team!
So, we all know the Motometers can be repaired, and replacement parts purchased, but that can get expensive, quick.
I've been looking around for potential aftermarket meters, with the primary concern of getting the idiot lights, indicators, etc going as well.
I know I can just get a GPS speedo or cycle-style speedo with a magnetic pickup on the front wheel etc etc, and i'm ok to lose the tacho and the GPI etc so aren't too concerned about that, but is there anyway to run an Aftermarket speedo, but retain the use of the Indicator / Oil Pressure lights also?
I've searched around quite a bit, but couldn't find anything specifically related to running A.M speedos on our bikes, so want to open it up for your ideas and discussion!
Thanks!
Thomas

"Best" I would recommend something like Black Acewell 4553 (http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-electronic-parts-mini-black-acewell-4553-digital-motorcycle-speedo-speedometer-tach-tachometer-19-4553-bk.html)
If cost is a concern and it sounds like it maybe then how about 2.5" Chrome Mini Speedometer w/ Black Face - (LED Indicator Lights)

Do the K's need the electronics in the instrument cluster to run?

Woah that Acewell is pretty expensive at $475.95!
I've been looking at
http://www.trailtech.net/digital-gauges/voyager-moto-gps/912-302 (http://www.trailtech.net/digital-gauges/voyager-moto-gps/912-302)
The Voyager GPS allows you to create, log and ride trails, and when you are finished, share them with friends. You can also monitor the engine temperature, ambient temperature, distance, voltage, compass, elevation, and engine RPM. The 2.7” screen uses the most up-to-date technology for amazing viewing, even in direct sunlight.
The only thing i've read in the negative from reviews is the RPM monitor is shite, but still works by telling the computer the bike is running etc.
Uses a magentic bolt / sensor on the front wheel to determine speed, and a temp sensor where you cut the radiator hose and insert.
BUT, both the Acewell and the Trailtech introduce new issues;
Starting without the neutral circut requires the clutch to be pulled in while starting.
No engine oil pressure warning light.
No Indicator indicators
The indicator indicators would be easy to fix, just splice an idiot LED into the indicator line.
The Engine oil pressure switch, I THINK activates when the pressure switch grounds the connection, so that sounds like it could also be an easy fix with a replacement LED or similar
The Neutral indicator light would be handy to have though, and I haven't figured out or read a way to get around this without having the motometer... Any ideas? :)

You want to replace the stock unit because of spare parts issues? I'm in the process of putting a motogadget unit on my K bike so I have a functioning stock dashboard if you're interested. Its only flaw is that the tach needle sticks...
