Title: Which Guard Dog?
Post by: jacksdad1963 on July 03, 2014, 03:07:18 PM
I've read up on re-greasing the driveshaft splines, I'm going to do mine this winter.
I've also read that the best grease for the job is Guard Dog: but which one! I've seen GD-525 grease : A synthetic grease with 30% molybdenum disulfide.
Then I found GD-570 Moly Paste: With 73% molybdenum disulfide

Which one should I be looking for? Next question: If I cannot find any here in England, can anyone send me some, I'd cover all costs!

Extensive description from GD of this at the end of this thread from yesterday -- good timing.

Thanks to svebbe for getting and sharing that info...

Email beemerboneyard.com -- maybe they ship internationally -- otherwise PM me -- can't guarantee quick turnaround tho --

I'll give them a try: can't cost much to send a tiny amount of grease can it?  :2thumbup:

Can't find any listing for the Wurth stuff, all I want is a small tub of DG-525
How can it be so difficult in this day and age to buy a tub and get it sent to England!
Ridiculous..... :dunno2:

Beemerboneyard say

'foreign orders are shipped via US Postal Service'

so it looks to be possible.

Wouldn't be surprised if they won't intl ship petrol products or lubricants of any kind. I'd go with whatever suitable stuff you can get hassle free at motobins.

Try getting GD 525 in this country...??? Try getting any special spline grease at all in this country..?? ...."Ere ya go mate, this black ***t for CV joints ull do"....!!!!

After many many calls and beam trawlering the net I found a specialist lube place in Darlington (Smith & Allen) who do this stuff at 25/50% Molybdenum Disulphide content and zoom in there, if its good enough for Rolls Royce then heyho....!!!!!  ( £37.00 )

......"Sorry please rotate accordingly or consume large amounts of beer"....!!!
