I've just got myself a pair of wheels an tyres off a K1100RS, these have 120/70 ZR 17 front, and 160/60 ZR 18 rear.
How does the K1100LT ride with these fitted: if they are a straight swap of course!
Seems odd to go from 18 to 17" front, and 17 to 18" rear....why did BMW do this? Obviously the RS tyres are wider, but why the difference in wheel sizes?
I'm happy with the way my standard LT rides and don't want to make it worse :yow

Due to the different height profiles the diameter is close to identical.

Many run with a RS rear wheel on an LT....and I have read that an RS front will work as well. Supposedly handles even better...
-
Yep...I run the RS rear....no probs.
-
I've fitted the rear, but due to the fuel tank problem I've not tried it yet!
Just need to deflate the tyre to get in past the exhaust, otherwise a straight swap: Is it worthwile swapping the front as well, as a matched pair?
My standard front wheel has a brand new BT023 and the RS tyre is shot, so don't want to be laying out money for yet more new tyres without any real need!

I've always used an RS rear and sometimes an RS front too. The rear makes a great difference, and the front is an improvement but not dramatic. I've settled on an RS rear and LT front running Michelen Pilot Road 3 which are available in standard sizes.
The advantage comes from being able to run radials.
Both RS wheels makes the centre stand difficult.
Cheers

My centrestands find with the rear 160, and my standard LT rear has a 150 Battlax squeezed on, so I've got matching radials all ways:
Must say the RS 160 feels just the same as the LT 150, even though they are 1" different, but obviously so is the tyre profile. I'll whip out the RS rear and compare it side by side with the LT, just to get an exact diameter comparison....I'll be back.... :2thumbup:
