Title: Überannoying tank vent hoses
Post by: Motorhobo on May 21, 2014, 03:44:52 PM
Who likes having to disconnect the vent hoses every time they want to pull off the tank? Nobody!

Who likes the fact that their K75 has a little overflow tray under the vent nipples to catch any discharge and route it down to the ground? Everybody!

So why does my 95 k75 (west coast) have the overflow tray and my 94 K75 (east coast) instead have those %#^* hoses attached to the nipples with what looks like some kind of inline filter? And where do I get a overflow tray so don't have to deal with those #^*% hoses anymore?

It probably has do with different states having different emissions or fuel discharge regulations. I don't care. Where do I get me one of those overflow tray thingies?

Look in the library. It's an "accumulator" or something similar. The part # is listed. It's like 7 bucks.

If you have a hose with an 'in line filter' you better look at the front of your engine block if there's not a little uncovered stub.... You might have a bike with a 'California' arrangement where the fuel tank breather goes to the crankcase with an in-line non-return valve. Read up :-)

Hi
Hopefully a minor thread jack is OK..
I am new to K bikes and recently acquired an 87 k75c.  I have the right side hoses coming off the underside of the tank.  Are they what this thread is about?  I haven't chased them to their end yet, and can't tell from the manual what exactly they do.

The hose on the right side is probably the coolant overflow to the coolant reservoir. Not what this thread is about.

Gas tank vent hoses....

The two hoses on the underside of the tank is what this thread is about -- the overflow hose to the overflow reservoir bottle comes off the radiator.
