Title: Fan motor -- which wire is power?

Before I put the radiator back on only to find the fan pushing air in the wrong direction, would someone be so kind as to tell me which wire supplies power to the fan - the striped one or the brown one? I would like to test it on the bench first  -- without a hot, running bike there's no way to test it in place.

I noted the config before soldering to the new motor, but some of you may remember those fun times back in August when I screwed the starter housing on backwards causing the starter to run in reverse, which resulted in a three-day Festival of WTF.  I'd like to avoid that kind of hilarity if at all possible.

    The striped is the power lead.  The brown is neutral or ground. In most DC applications if you reverse the leads you reverse the rotation. Best of luck. Later,

On Our bikes....and every other vehicle....that follows the DIN standard for the wiring, ground is always brown.
Or brown is always (and only) ground, unless it's a signal wire connected to ground, then it's brown with a tracer.

That may be for vehicles make outside of the USA...........
Here in the states, the grounded line for DC applications is black.

AFAIK the vehicle manufacturers at your side of the pond don't follow the DIN standard for the wiring.

Wiring standards are for wimps, if you brush the wire against the frame and get sparks, it's a hot wire, if not, it's a ground.
