... while riding at night with grip heaters on along with heated vest plugged in, I notice my alternator light glowing ever so faintly. Battery is charging adequately, or so it would seem. But Chile Red always starts from the first spark, so hard to tell if weakened after a cool night's cruise.
So the Question - Will this eventually Zorch my alternator or so me other part of the charging circuit? And if so, where do I find a good, more powerful replacement for the stock alternator I am certain is on board Chile Red?

Your 93 probably has the 32 amp alternator...maybe the 50 amp upgrade would be a good idea with all the juice you're sucking.

with my stuff on and her stuff on and all my lights blazing i keep an eye on that light... when it comes on... and it does... i start turning stuff off... 1st to go are my blue catz slo driving lights... that usually does it... butts i always turn the heated stuff off a few miles from turning off the moto...
i gotts the 50 on the k1100rs... what im talking about is her heated socks jackes gloves + my heated insoles jacket grips + 4 pair of 55w@ lights... cutting 1 pair of 55w lights and out socks and insoles always makes that light go out...
the 32 should easily handle a pair of led lights + heated jacket + grips...

You can upgrade to a 50amp alternator.
The 50 amp alternator was standard on 95 K75's and K1100's. The same 50 amp alternator was used on the R850 and R1100 variants. You'll need an impact wrench to remove the pulley and replace with the cup and will need to change the coolant recovery bottle from the radiator to one from an 1100.

Jeez, j o. You could light the Vegas Strip with all the jooce you guys use to keep warm
Think I will upgrade to the Fitty when I can afford it tho. In the meantime, sounds like the only thing that could go south is my batt, yes?

The 50 amp alternators came on-line much earlier. Betcha that the Flying Duck has one or more at a reasonable price.

Here's an inexpensive 50 amp for sale. Remove the pulley (pneumatic impact wrench works great for this) install your old cup with new monkey nuts and hopefully it will clear the overflow bottle. if not, replace with the K1100 bottle
