Hi there, greetings from Sunny Oldham, a hole of a place just outside Manchester :2thumbup:
I'm in the process of getting my first 'K', been riding for over 30 years and never owned a Beemer: must be an (old) age thing!
I've got a 1976 Yam XS650 that I imported from Ohio, fully restored now after standing for 21 years, but its defo a sunny day bike hence the 'K' being added to my fleet

Hi & welcome from a little up country from you. What model K has seduced you?
Regards: Duncan

Welcome, once the K bike has bitten you, it sticks with you. But you never leave you XS behind. I am on my second K bike, but still have two XS650's one tracker and one project(?).
You will find this site a bundle of answers to questions!

Ye, love my XS, I'm on XS650.com as well, got some good contacts thru there, the Hughs PMA kit is one of the best parts ever :2thumbup:
I'm bidding on a 92 K100LT but if I don't get it there's a 750 going, although I want a 4 cylinder really

I've got one! :yow
Well almost, I'm picking it up tomorrow....can't wait!
K1100LT, everything on it, genuine touring tragkorbs that have been badly colour matched...my first job to repaint them
12 month mot, loads new parts, electric screen and ABS fully working, new tyres, but no radio (I've got a CD/Radio player ready)
Roll on tomorrow!

Congrats!
It has been a little over a year since I got bitten and bought my K100 Standard and love riding it.

Finally got my bike!
So far, I'm very happy with it, but I've only rode it 85 miles: The first thing I noticed is that it needs another 2 gears! I rode just about everywhere in fifth gear, it really does need another.
I've read that some bikes have different final drive ratios, my bike is a standard K1100LT uk spec....can I do anything to improve it? First gear is not needed, and fifth is way too low, its like the bike has the wrong gearing altogether!
-
My K1100 is the same - crying out for a 6th gear (at least, if not a 7th). No idea if it can be fiddled with so I'll watch with interest!
-
What is the final drive ratio for the standard bike? I've seen a couple of replacement final drives for sale, giving a ratio figure for them....but I don't know what is fitted to mine!
-
You'll get used to the gearing....they like to run high RPM's though 6th would be nice sometimes.
-
I don't want to get used to it!
I want to improve the gearing, 5th is just too low, my bike is in top gear at 30 mph, and by 80 mph its revving its nuts off!
Does anyone know what the UK bike ratio is please?

That does not seem right! What are you RPM's at 60 mph in 5th?

I'm waiting for my new front tyre, as soon as its here/fitted I'll let you know :2thumbup:

Hi there!
I've now fitted a brand new Battlax BT023 front and my used Avon 46 on the rear...the bike feels a whole lot better already
The front tyre just rolls from lock to lock, with a bit of firmer grip in the centre...perfect!
I've just bought a GS rear wheel, 4.5 x 18, so can now fit a 160/60 BT023 Battlax to match the front: thanks to mystic red for the advice :2thumbup:
