AAAAHHHHH, I changed the clutch on my LT last year. Last Wed. I went to pass a slow car in front of me, I was in 3rd and nailed the throttle when a hole opened up, then as I shifted to 4th engine revved up freely, looked down at the gear indicator and sure enough showed 4th so I shifted down to 3rd and eased it over into the slower lane. Sure enough everytime I went for 4th I could not maintain speed, limped it on in to work and then limped it home after work. Finished disassembly tonight and found the forward side of the friction disk completely fragged out. I had replaced the stock clutch disk with a Siebenrock Basic Plus last year. These clutches are billed to be stronger than the stock clutch. Now the dilemma take a gamble on yet another Siebenrock or go with the stock clutch. Are there any other options? Is it worth paying the $245 for the Siebenrock Friction Plus, or just stick with the stock at $159?

What's the mileage rating/warranty of that aftermarket one, and how many miles have you put on it since.

That doesn't sound right. K clutches should last ages. I'd go for the stock clutch in general, it worked fine for a long time.

Scott, I put approx. 10k on that clutch, no warranty on any of the clutches available for our bikes. I had purchased mine from Motobins since Beemerboneyard was out of them last year. The friction pad appears to be manufactured from one solid thread of fiberglass, the inside of my case looked like a couple of sparrows had been busy in there. It appeared to have just unraveled, I've never seen anything like it. Good thing was very minimal damage to the other components of the clutch.

25k on my OEM clutch and it's still barely worn -- in my experience that part will get oiled due to some kind of leakage in the bell housing before it will wear down below tolerance, depending on riding habits and proper adjustment at lever and bottom of cable. If there's not a performance improvement, why choose the aftermarket over the OEM?
You can get complete OEM k75 clutch assemblies with barely worn friction disks on fleabay for dirt -- $60 for this one.

The k100/1100 have a different clutch assembly from the K75.

Yeah, but that seems to be the going rate for K75 - k1100 clutches, here's a 97 k1100 clutch pack for $60.
