Title: 94 K1100RS Starting Problem
Post by: Kaunet on March 15, 2014, 08:42:43 PM
 :dunno
I just found this forum and have already found a lot of useful information. Thanks!
I recently acquired a 94 K1100RS in January. I only had it out for 3 short rides last month because of the weather. Last week I rode it to work and when I came out 3 hours later it wouldn’t start. When I turn the key everything comes on like normal but the starter just makes a high spinning sound and doesn’t sound like its engaging. Thanks.

Welcome Kaunet!

Do a search with the keywords BMW and sprag clutch on the net (or here)...and you would get tons of info.

Some recommend putting the bike in 5th gear and then rolling it backwards a little, the frontwards, then backwards, etc. trying to free-up the sticky sprag clutch.

When you get it working, maybe run some oil treatment through your engine to clean out the sludge.

Thanks. I found a couple articles and will try to put some detergent cleaner in and see if I can get it to turn over tomorrow.
