Title: Relay box layouts
Post by: frankenduck on May 31, 2011, 02:28:40 PM
The load shedding or unloader relay turns off the headlight and a few other things when you are starting the bike in order to make more electrical power available to the starter motor.

What are the functions of the relays in the box of a 1994 K75RT?  What do the blue relays do?

The inside of my box doesn't match anything I can find on the interweb.

What do the blue relays do?
If this were my conundrum, I'd use the MAX fiche photos and try to identify them by the number of their terminals, the orientation of their terminals and their positions in the box. Happily, it isn't mine—not now anyway.

Is this a joke MG???? Left=ABS   Right=fuel pump  This is the same setup on my 89.

Not the fuel pump.  I pulled it and it still ran.  Fuel pump appears to be the black one in front of it.

The two blue relays are for the ABS as far as I can tell by process of elimination.  I would just like to confirm it.  The schematic shows two.  One should be the main and the other is for the cluster light.  According to the fault I'm reading for the ABS system, one of them has a problem.  I'm guessing it is the big one, but when I test it it tests good.

I would get fixated on color...or position :bmwsmile .  Start by confirming operation.  Perhaps you have a mix of ABS1 and 2 diagram above, ie., one abs relay, but a block of four for load shed, horn, fuel, and fan???

^Yep blue is ABS.

When I was forced to delete my ABS pulling both blues got rid of the flashing ABS lights.
