Title: Runnig light in mirror upgrade with pics
Post by: subforry on November 17, 2013, 08:08:29 PM
I added some dual filament bulbs (1157) to the mirror turn signals on my K1100RS.  I removed the connectors, used a Dremel to bore out the plastic holder to allow for a dual filament base.  The fit was tight enough but I used some thin CA glue.  Then ran wire from the headlight running light to the mirrors.  Uses standard 1157 bulbs.  Here are some pics.

As you are running those, keep an eye on your plastic lenses for heat discolouration or deformation.
The heat generated from a running light in a space that wasn't designed for a incandescent running light may cause you problems.

I'm not saying that it absolutely will, but just beware that it's a possibility.
You may consider a dual wattage LED lamp, same dual purpose but no heat....

Scott_ Thanks for the tip.  Will 1157 led bulbs work with the stock turn signal relay?
