This is yet another old issue I've been waiting years to get an answer to.
When I put any torque on the handlebars (I.e. by holding the wheel steady between my legs and turning the bars) it creaks. If I flood the bore in the triple tree where the tubes sit with WD 40 and torque the pinch bolts, it stops creaking for a while then resumes a couple days later. The noise is definitely coming from the intersection between tube and bore. It was noticeable when I had a sidecar attached, not so much without it.
I have a buddy who says its probably because of corrosion buildup on the inside wall of the bore and that I need to use a solvent and scotchbrite to get rid of it. Since the tubes are out now, I figured this would be a good time to deal with it. Anyone else have this and recommend procedure and materials?
Thanks...van
