Title: Missing K1100 right peg plate mount. Is it required?
Post by: rbm on October 20, 2013, 07:28:40 PM
I'm performing a backend conversion on my 88 K75 to use a Paralever backend, which includes K1100 peg plates.  The person from whom I bought the transmission and drive components neglected to send me some parts, which I am only realizing now that I'm in the middle of the rebuild.  One of the missing parts is the right peg plate mount, part #7 in the diagram below:

I have the left side (part #6) and I see that it is required for the muffler mount.  But the right seems to be more for supporting the ABS parts.  My K75 is not ABS so can I safely ignore part #7 in my case?

Why don't you try and find one from a bike breaker yard.

On both sides the bracket provides some extra rear support to the peg plates for the z-rail connection and stability.

I'd try to find one if it were me.

Thanks SCott.  I have located a few candidates through Ebay however shipping to Canada is two to three times the price of the article itself. Not very economical in my book.  Canadian breaker yards don't have ANY BMWs, just Jap bikes.   If I can get away without it, I can save some serious cash.

You have to have it. It's the lower support of the peg plate.
