Title: Performance chips
Post by: bamaboy on August 11, 2013, 07:37:25 PM
Anyone use this, does it live up to claims?  :dunno

BMW K1100RS K1100 K1 K100RS BBR Chip Performance
The BBR chip fits all bikes with the 1000cc 16v engine (K1, K100RS, etc) and some of the earlier 1100cc engines (K 11RS, K 1100RS, K 11LT, K 1100LT that is if the bike is fitted with ABS 1). Horsepower is increased up to 20HP and improves the mid range torque by 20%. The low/mid range flat spots are removed and vibrations are reduced. GAS MILEAGE IMPROVES and the engine is smoother across the whole power band.
The chip only works with the the Montronic 2.1 ECU.

:dunno2: I haven't bought one, sounds like it's too good to be true  :deal: "the magic fix"
I think I'd rather pony up for upgraded injectors, but was hoping to learn from someone else's experience  :lets-eat:

Just like anything else you read on the interwebz, research it.

I can't put my finger on the threads at the moment but I have read of others that have tried those "tuning chips" without any noticeable difference other than $ out of their pocket.

There is even a thread here on Motobrick of an owner adapting a totally different injection control system to the bike.

Good luck. Let us know how it works for you if you try it....

I'm the guy who put the other fuel system on the bike.

There are gains to be had in the earlier (motronic 2.1) 4v engines. They were detuned to 100 hp. Advance the timing a bit, and richen up some parts of the map and lean others, and it will give some more power and better mileage.

I would say the claims are probably a bit exaggerated (they usually are), but improvement is certainly possible.

Are there anything similar for K75 ('89) to boost it up a little bit?

Nope. The K75 wasn't detuned. You could bump the timing a few degrees though.

Bama,

A lot of of us went with the remachined injectors to increase flow slightly and better atonization of fuel. I bought mine for $100 on OSIDETIGER, Ebay. much better investment than a chip that probably wont work :p

That could certainly help. You could pair that with megasquirt if you feel the need. I'll post my tune files if anyone wants.

even without the megasquirt it boosts the torque and HP mildly. With the megasquirt I can but imagine.
