So I pulled the pinion out of the K1100LT so I could put the one out of the second bike into it. Unfortunately when I got the replacement drive out of the parts bike....it was leaking at the same seal.
The youtube video says he uses Bruno to rebuild his rear ends. They are in Ontario, requiring boarder crossings and extended time.
Is this rear end rebuildable in the states? Anyone know of someone who can do it? The replacement one isn't as bad, but I don't want to screw with it and have it break in two weeks, I would rather fix it right.
Any recommendations?
Thanks Ken

I will contact them Monday, but if anyone knows how they price? The final drive ran out of oil...and makes noises. Do they take it all apart and put it back together? 60,000 miles seems awfully short to lose a seal that requires rebuilding the whole stinking thing.
Put the spare bike one on, as at least it was losing WAY less oil than the other one.
The oil is pink, like transmission oil in the final drive. Anyone know what that might be? I don't want to mix the 90 weight with it, would like to just buy what is in it to finish filling it back up.
Thanks
Ken

Sounds to me like it's the wrong fluid.
I'd drain it out as much as possible, then refill it with the right stuff. You never know, it could only be leaking because it has the wrong oil in it.
Put the right stuff in and it may stop leaking.... :yow
