Title: Speedo internal lighting, bulb suppliers?
Post by: KCinSB on July 05, 2013, 11:12:21 PM
For a '93 K1100RS, I have several bulbs out in the gauge pod, and the clock is the one I miss the most. Anyhow, last time I went through this drill some years back, it was a hassle getting the BMW shop to order the bulbs,........ no profit margin I'm sure. Anyhow, does anyone have info on replacement bulbs? I like the stock green shade. Also don't want them too bright. OEM bulbs would be perfect.

If you are going to open the speedo pod up again, why not just replace the lamps with LED's and be done for a long time.

Check with Duck at kbikeparts.com

If not maybe he will sell you some of the old lamps he's removed.....

Thousands of LED versions on ebay, I have sets of red, green and blue ones that cost peanuts.

Duck's LED instrument light kit is worth every penny. He put a lot of work into figuring out the right bulb for each application. AND, he marks each bulb's polarity, which is essential.

Hi

FrakenDucks LED bulbs are worth going for. I replaced the main bulbs on my K1100LT, with his LED's. Everything worked according to the instructions provided, I removed the screen and inner cover to get to the dash connector easier then followed the supplied instructions to replace the bulbs.
