Hi I just picked up my first k series a 1987 k75.I have taken it out for a few rides and love the bike cant believe how smooth it is.
The engine runs well,no smoke of any kind and no missfire at any RPMS.however I find if It doesn't start right away the engine floods,we are not talking just wet plugs here, when I remove the plugs and crank the engine, fuel is visibly spraying out and puddling in the valve cover! I dried and replaced the plugs then try to restart,NO GO. noticed gas dripping from the muffler clamp.removed the muffler gas visibly runs from the header when cranking.
After leaving the bike to sit for the night, giving it the first position of choke it will start again (no black smoke)and run normally, until you experience another flooding episode.
At present I have done no troubleshooting. Hoping somebody can help me out looking forward to putting some miles on this summer. thanks :bmwsmile

Injector sticking open?

I'd suggest running some Techron or SeaFoam with the gas and try to clean up the injectors, short of removing them and sending them out for overhaul.
