Thinking about a new shock for my 88 k75c. Curious if a shock pulled from a mid 2000's k bike would work. Some nice deals out there from partouts. Showas with some adjustment..

i dont have a ram shock butts if were to score a new shock (http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,352.0.html) anytime soon it would be a new ram built to my specs...
suspension is everything... new fork springs and a new rear shock mean everything... i would not mess with anything used...

A pulled shock from 2000's bike will fit. But I got a Progressive shock I bought used from Tim and it's pretty awsome. Others may be better, but for me it is already a big step up from old stock one.

Thanks for the replies. How bout a progressive 465? I race vintage mx and use works performance shocks on my bikes, but the progressives look good as well. Also, any input on fork springs? Go progressive, or straight rate with some Race Tech emulators?

i gotts 2 works shocks... both have been perfect... 1 over 50k on it... 1 over 80k on it... 100% positive experience... would like to try the ram race version out of curiosity...

Wait - are y'all saying the K1200 shocks will fit a K75? Close enough length? The bottom lug looks completely different.

k75 is monolever, the mid-aughts bikes are paralever. Do your homework.

Can't say it's a "race" version, but I gots one of those "rams" on the '95 at the moment.
I may slip it on the '97 for the Wisc trip in July.....
I'm going to see how the '97 rides on the Radials and the Fox before I decide on putting the Ram on it.
Some day I have to stop procrastinating about my Ohlins and get the darn thing fixed and put it back on one of the bikes before I buy a 2nd Ram shock........

How bout a progressive 465?
I'm happy with my 465. If anything, it might be a bit stiffly sprung for me when I'm solo without gear (not unbearably so), but its great two up.

I managed to pick up a new (used) Fox from the bay for myself for x-mas (I probably sound pretty crass, but nobody gets me better presents than me... :yes)
I changed out the fluid and gave it a general clean-up, and I must say once I set the preload, I haven't thought about once since I got going this spring. I rides that nice. I haven't even messed with any of the twin adjustments... I could, but honestly it rides super nice and I just haven't felt it needed any adjustment.
I think the only thing I would adjust is for heavier luggage on a trip, but it really rides nice.
I'm not some suspension guy either, this is the coolest shock I've ever owned. Other than some shock rebuilding, I know only what I've read, so I don't know much about suspension. The only comparison I can make is to the stocker I took off, which was probably ok when new, but getting a bit "long of the tooth"...
All that said, if I wouldn't have found the Fox, I would probably gone with a RAM. I missed the one Duck sold back around TG, or I probably would have tried to get that one.
