which seals.... i currently have my tranny out having just loctited the grub screw . Wondering which seals you were doing since i have oily residue below the clutch pack on the bell housing. Some say replace the clutch nut oring some say a main seal. The clutch pack is intimidating me right now so im not sure what to do. Any advice?

There are 3 seals in the transmission to my knowledge, two on either ends of the drive shaft and one on the output shaft - I might need to change bearings while I'm in there we shall see.
I replaced the clutch o-ring and main seal on mine, it was leaking everywhere, the main seal was the toughie I had to fashion a custom tool to install it: http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,2652.msg15008.html#msg15008 (http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,2652.msg15008.html#msg15008)

bleeding from the input

in the bucket...smells like sulfer so it's definitely the transmission...

everything looks okay at first glance...

then again, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for...

so I'm here to change three seals, input, output and needle...sure is dark in here, bearings feel solid...

shifter is always super sticky while shifting, but I hear you really gotta give K's the boot when shifting, probably normal...

a few more random photos so I can inspect later...

The transmission is just resting on a bench I don't really have anything to stabilize it so i'll see if that's an issue as I get further along...I also need a bearing puller, and I hope to get by without any special super-duper-bmw-tools that don't exist anymore... :beehive:

There is also a seal on the shaft for the toe shifter and a seal on the clutch pushrod. I used a socket of the corresponding size for tapping in each seal, no leaks two years later.

and the cover next to the output shaft is also recommended to be changed.

Thanks, would've missed that.

And this as well. Only want to do this once!
