Hi all. Tracking down some fuel pump issues after experiencing the dreaded dampener melt-down. Does anyone have experience with some of the alternate pumps that might work for a 92 K75? I see the Bosch pump is pretty easy to find, and I am also seeing this http://www.beemerboneyard.com/16141341231n.html (http://www.beemerboneyard.com/16141341231n.html) over at Beemer Boneyard. I have also seen discussion of a Ford Mustang /Peugot 205 FTi pump for a K100. Would that pump work for a K75? I still need to pull the pump and hook it up to some leads to check if it is really dead, (already checked the fuse) but would like to know folks experience with the aftermarket parts.
I can, however, contribute, that a rubber stopper is of limited use in replacing the vibration dampener while waiting for replacement parts. It only held for about 1000 miles before the fuel line started rattling off the pump :dunno2:. I was touring and it seemed a good idea at the time...

A common substitute in Australia is the VDO pump for injected Ford Falcons of the late 80's and early 90's. The VDO pump model no is A2C59511442.
This is a quality unit that will fit right into the smaller of the two K series vibration dampers.. It sells here for $65 with the filter sock included.
It operates at the same pressure as the K item..2.5 bar, but its capacity in flow is about 3 times that of the original pumps. I have not heard of any problems running this pump.
Differences with a K series VDO pump are limited to having spade connectors, and it doesn't have the location ridges... this is corrected by using a couple of nylon zip ties tightly done up around the body of the pump.
The Peugeot pump is supposed to be fine as well.
The good thing about converting to the falcon pump is that is available all over Australia...pretty important if touring here.

Thanks mjydrafter! I have seen the original work-up for that conversion in regards to a K100. I must have missed that tread when I did my search here. Good to know that it works on the 75 s as well!
