Ok, 85 K100 with 31k showing but most likely more.
Went to Motoworks this morning to pick up maintenance supplies. Whenever I buy a new bike I assume nothing has been done and the molasses in lieu of brake fluid is proving me right.
Checked valves and found intakes are at (1-4 left to right)
1).203mm 2) .127!! 3) .178 4) .178 but prob a hair tighter
Exhausts:
1) .203 2) .203 3) .229 4) .229
Those are mm.
So obviously I got some shimming to do in my future!
I am ordering the tool from Ken, he is close to me unless someone in Chicago can lend me one.
Here's the $64,000 question: can I ride her with those clearances? I work retail and after tomorrow im basically working two weeks straight with no chance to get to Motoworks:(.
I was planning on heading to the Full Moon in the morning after I flush the brakes.
Thanks!

I don't think you're going to hurt anything riding it for a couple weeks like that. I've seen tighter exhaust valves that once reshimmed held their clearance for another 40,000 miles.

Cool. My experience with air cooled bikes makes me cautious. I gather the water cooled K has more stable operating temperatures than the old GS1100!

you snow belt motobrickers are so predictable... always tinkering with your motobricks... if it were me i would ride it till it wont move...

Good to know. In my non bmw experience, driving it till it wont move ends up with me parting out a bike on craigslist. Not my idea of a good time!
