Im currently making a to buy list for parts from bobs BMW. Im curious if the 1985 throttle cable is the "accelerator bowden cable" listed here. Anyone know?

Accelerator is English - or Australian - for throttle :-) And bowden cable is just a cable with a moving inner and fixed outer sheath, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowden_cable. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowden_cable.) So I reckon you are on the right track there.

Technically the throttle is the valve that regulates air entering the engine. When the valve is closed the engine is 'throttled'. The thing you use to control this (twistgrip on a bike, foot pedal in a car) is the 'throttle control'. When you open the throttle the engine (and vehicle if it's in gear) accelerates - and 'accelerator' is so much more fun to say than 'throttle control' :laugh
The other thing is that some engines don't actually have a throttle - a diesel engine for instance - so by default they can't have a throttle control, but they can have an accelerator.
And after all that I'd say you need 32 73 1457015 for an '85 but it may be worth measuring your old one if the opportunity exists to confirm the length.

before this gets too far field, let me note that there was a change in the design in the early models. If I recall correctly, it was related to the unintended earthing issue through the cable. If you buy the old style you may have problems fitting it. I think the TB side was different. Do clarify that with the parts guy at Bob's when you order the cable.

Right lawrence. They changed the design as of 6/86. I have a bike manufactured in 84, therefore I believe only the early style will fit with my current setup. I will definitely call confirm before ordering though.
