Title: k75rt fuel hoses
Post by: 6.5 on February 01, 2013, 11:09:54 PM
I want to replace the two fuel hoses on the left side of the bike as well as the vacuum hose for the regulator. At the same time I want to replace air filter. How far do I need to tear the bike down to do all of this? Is there a cheaper alternative air cleaner available?

It's three fuel hoses on the outside of the tank, tank-rail, rail-fpr, fpr-tank.
You need to remove the bottom part of the airfilter housing to get acces to the fpr.

There are only two air cleaners that I know of, OEM and K&N. I know one other company made one, but it is now unavailable as far as I can tell. I think it was made by an oil filter company.

Why would you only want to replace two of three fuel lines instead of replacing all three?

For any fuel line you remove from the fuel pressure regulator you will need to replace the one-use Oetiker hose clamps.

You can use generic vacuum hose for the line between the rear throttle body and the FPR.

Don't bother with the K&N. There is at least double the needed area on the stock filter, and it presents no restriction. The K&N just lets more crap into the engine.

UNI also makes a filter for the early K's.

It is a foam filter which you wash and re-oil periodically, like a K&N.

But, I just blow the factory filter out w/ compressed air and re-use it.  Like wmax indicates they're not the cause of any restriction.
