Title: Customizing aux lighting control

I want my lighting set up so that at night my HID driving lights go on and off with the high beam and my XLO fox/conspicuity lights go on and off with the low beam.  For fog and daytime I want just the XLOs to go on with the low beam.  The solution was to add a diode between the ground triggers for their relays.

Like so:

Of course that's probably not going to hold up very well so I entomb it in a piece of plastic straw filled with epoxy.  Much more durable and waterproof:

I guess not.  For some reason that kept the high beam headlight relay triggered.  Looks like I wasted $1.59 on diodes. :nono

I KNOW this will work.

Frankenduck,

Is the high relay triggered all the time with the diode installed, or just when you have the high beams on with the switch in the down position?

And, perhaps showing my ignorance even more, why bother with the switch at all. With a solid ground, you'd have the Catz on with the  low and the Hella on with the high. Why do you want high beam in daylight and fog except to flash a cage?

Stays on all of the time. Regardless of up or down high beam switch position.  Not sure why. :dunno  Don't care though because I know the V2.0 using a relay will work.

There are times when I don't want/need the XLOs on with the low beam - like when riding through campground areas at night.

There are also times when I don't want the HIDs on with the high beam.  A few weeks ago I was riding at night through a lot of fog of various densities - sometimes the high beam without the HIDs worked best in the thinner stuff.  Also when riding split interstates out in the boonies at night.  Under certain scenarios I can use my high beam and not blind drivers coming the other way since it's a relatively narrow beam.  The Hella Micro DEs have a WIDE beam pattern - about 70 degrees. :yow If they were ALWAYS on with the high beam I couldn't use my high beam as much in those situations.
