Title: 1985 K100RS throttle cable

The BMW parts fiche lists 2 different lengths of throttle cable for my 1985 K100RS.  969mm and 937mm. Is there any way to know which I should order without removing the old cable and measuring it?  What would account  for two different lengths on the same bike?  Perhaps the factory decided on re-routing it at some point?  Any ideas?

Unless it is worn out or too buried you should be able to find the part number printed on the cable.
