Title: Long time reader first time poster
Post by: richarddacat on September 23, 2012, 10:01:27 PM: I'm a FJR rider in TN, former BMW rider for many years.
Currently riding my Dad's 88K75c because he's 87yrs old and hasn't ridden it in about two yrs. So I've been blowing the dust off of it. I've owned a 94K75s that I bought new but traded it for a GS for some reason. :dunno2:

Anyway, I forgotten how smooth these are, the bars are a lot smoother than my FJR but falls short on handling and the thrust of a fighter jet.

So, I'm browsing CL and find this 93K1100LT, http://nashville.craigslist.org/mcd/3176721963.html (http://nashville.craigslist.org/mcd/3176721963.html) and I'm kinda jonesing for it. Might even go ride it in the next day or two. Would these K1100's by chance be as smooth as the K75?

I thinking not so much. Any input or should I talk my Dad out of his K75?

Post by: Rick G on September 24, 2012, 08:19:57 PM: You have to keep any of the 4 cylinder bricks well tuned to be smooth but they are not as smooth as a K75. There is not much in it and I prefer ths K1100 over the K75 mainly for the extra power it has, but saying that, if by chance I was restricted to only one bike the K75 would be the one that stayed.

I rode my FJR down there to look at it and the FJR ran so well and felt so good I just pasted the place and kept on riding.

I'll talk my Dad out of his K75 one of these days and use it for my summer bike.

Post by: Elipten on July 03, 2014, 12:04:03 AM: First congrats to your father for riding at 85. I can only hope the same for me. Second congrats he gave you the bike. He must love you a lot. I might have taken it with me to the grave. Power is not everything. Slow down a bit and enjoy the ride. It still has plenty of top end and is quick compared to bikes of the 1950's.

It was his choice to stop riding and think his goal was to win the oldest rider award at the BMW Shiloh Rally (RAMS) before he did give it up. This and the Chicken Rally was always one we enjoyed together for many years.

I'm glad he did too, a fall would be harder to recover from at his age. He's still very active and sports no ailments that slow him down.

He also has a F650CS and a 73R75 in his garage in case he does get a wild hair.

I love the K-Bike and I need to slow down a bit anyway but when I do get the need for speed the FJR is always within reach.
