I was riding home on a 2-hour trip about 4-5 miles from the house and went to slow down for a red light and a high school girl who was texting changed lanes, caught me in the side bag and put me down. I slid about 15-20 yards. I got up and walked over to the bike and shut it off. Two wonderful people stopped and helped me get it into the median and called the paramedics. The girl didn't even get out of her car until they showed up. I've got a little bit of road rash on my hands because I wasn't wearing my gloves but otherwise I'm fine just a little shaken up.

Pics of the bike will come probably tomorrow, I'm not in the mood to work a camera. It's in pretty good shape under the circumstances. From about a ten minute inspection I can see that I need to replace the footpeg, brake lever and right mirror mount. Everything else is cosmedic. If anyone has any of those parts they'd like to sell I'd be grateful.

Glad to hear you're all right. Txting and driving will be the death of us all.

the leo and government need to get a attack this epidemic.excessive speed is a felony in Illinois, texting should be also.people are working on a dead zone in the drivers seat for cell phones now and have its effectiveness to 80 %. still a work in progress.phones work in the passenger seat but cancel signal when moved into zone.I am constantly scanning cars for the IDIOT HEAD BOB of the A HOLE texter.easy to spot and, unfortunately you had no where to go,I break all laws to put distance between me and these people.Maybe people should be able to report texters to authorities like drunks or reckless bikers.Insurance companies are actively looking at phone records in these cases, hope you are all rite and get back on the road soon.

Could not agree more. Most states in Australia have laws about even holding your phone while talking or texting when the vehicle is moving but it still is going on everwhere. The other big problem that is comming to light is people using the GPS and ignoring what is going on around them the insurance companies say it is as bad as the text/phone problem.
Its good to see you have only road rash WG

OWWW!! Glad you and bike are OK! Texting while driving should be treated like a DUI.

Glad you are okay.
I have voiced this everytime that holding a phone and talking/or texting should be treated a moving violation and subject to harsh penalties.
But I also think that if someone causes a wreck while texting, they should have their thumbs cut of with a dull rusty knife!

Glad your OK too.

bummer, at least your physically OK.
Left turner Loretta today returning from a yard sale. Too busy braking to observe if she was on the phone.
Ha at first, thought this thread concerned alcohol or drugs.
