I am getting a 1991 K100LT from a friend and it has a lowered Wilbur or Works rear shock, he was not sure but I am 6'3" so that will not work. Any opinions on the Progressive 412? I am not one that plays with suspension adjustments so I just need a shock that will get me back to stock ride height. He did not think the bike was factory lowered and remembered seeing the stock shock but it appears his mom tossed it. Thanks, as you can tell I just need a cheap replacement. Yes, I am cheap.

I have one. At the lightest preload, the spring is too stiff for me (but I weigh 155).

I've always had stock or cheap shocks. I weigh 150 lbs.
How are things different with more expensive shocks.

Night and day - especially at speed.

I went with the Progressive shock for cost reasons. I got the longer one and it fits me fine. (I'm 6'1 225lbs)
One up I use the #2 position as #1 was too soft for my tastes. Control is good for the kind of riding I do.
I'm mostly in town riding and have not made any long trips on my 88 K100LT. I don't carry any really heavy gear and do not drive very fast. (Well I try not to anyway. :embarass:)
But that does not mean that I would not go with a better shock when I get the money to.
It mostly depends on what kind of riding you are going to do.
If you have ever driven a car with bad/weak/ or cheap shocks then you know that control suffers and can cause other problems down the road.
Also remember that cheap can be a bad thing when it comes to the parts that keep you safe.
