Title: Neked K75 Headlight Mounts
Post by: rbm on August 23, 2012, 04:26:03 PM
Hi,

Since installing the K1100 front-end on my K75, I'm up against the same problem that Duck faced (and solved) in this forum post on ADVrider:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=13029654&postcount=89 (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=13029654&postcount=89)
namely that the lower triple tee on the fork brace does not have predrilled holes for the lower headlight nacelle mounts.  The headlight flops about; not good.

Duck solved the problem by using a pair of plastic K75 headlight mounts for the neked model that clamp to the forks.  It is documented in that posting above.  Great solution, however, I have searched Fleabay and RealOEM diagrams looking for this elusive part and cannot find it.

Can someone please give me the MY or part number for the headlight mounts for the neked K75 (not the "C"or "T" or "S" models I am assuming)?  TIA.

I'm not 100% sure if those were headlight mounts or driving light mounts.

One option might be to drill and tap the K11 lower tree and fashion your own bracket.

Another option: A "naked" headlight option (http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,1514.0.html)

Thanks, Duck.  My first, knee-jerk reaction to the situation was to do what you first suggested; drill and tap a couple of threaded holes in the lower triple tee, but I didn't want to do that because it interferes with my future plans.  Your second suggestion is on my list of planned modifications to the bike but that is possibly a year or more down the road as I accumulate parts and money for the customization.

I'll continue to search for a stop-gap solution for my problem.

Cheers.

Stop-gap: What about a plastic bar zip-tied to the forks?

That would work if the backside of the headlight nacelle didn't protrude in the way.  I could cut away the protrusion but I would like to keep the headlight assembly stock so that I can sell it later.  Thanks.

Even new from a dealer than back headlight plastic only costs something like $40 IIRC.
