... is getting back on my K75 and relishing the smoooooth magic carpet-ness of it, the flick-abilty in twistiliciousness, The rapid disappearance in one's rear view mirrors of annoying people in cages who think they're some kinda hot ch!t. And - I could go on...
Not that I'm dissin' my R75/5, y'understand. It's raw un-couthness is precisely the thing I love about it too. Oh, but how I love my K - let me count the ways. Oh yeah, I already did :tongue
-
I love my brick too, but my first bike was a /6 and and I still want a another boxer. The low center of gravity is fantastic. It was narrowed down to two bikes when I bought my K; a blue R80/7 and my silver 75. The Flying Brick won because of the better braking system and I figured that fuel injection would give me better MPG.

I too, love the low C of G of a boxer. My favourite thing to do with the /5 is hit up some of our mountain twisties around around here. But - it just don't Flick like a Brick.

Taosbrick,
Have you heard anything about nuke power plant being planned for NM?
-
Heard about an N plant for NM? Actually, no. We've got plenty of "low sulfur" coal plants mucking up our formerly 100 mile views. But hey, what's a nuke to add to the rads we're already getting from Los Alamos? :loco:
-
I heard about it the other day. Was even told where it was going to be built. Now I can't remember where.
It sucks when your memory starts to go.

Taos, I know what you speak of with the R. After riding the Ural for a week hopping on my old K75s with seems like some futuristic rocket ship. Yet, when I choose which one to take to work or the store, I find myself strangely attracted to the Ural :dunno

You nailed it for me too, Chaos. When I got on my K last nite, I felt like I was riding something out of Star Wars, complete with familiar K whirr sounding more like some exotic anti-matter drive, after the Brrraaaappp of the R75 with a two-in-one. And yes, I too quite oddly find myself riding the boxer when going on errands or pub crawls.
But when I wanna get somewhere in speed and comfort, you better believe I'm on ol' Chile Red!
BTW, what's that muffler you got on yer K?

It's a MAC slip-on I found on Ebay last year, NOS from 1992, $80! Great mellow tone, just loud enough to drown out the whine. Performance is probably a wash,
but it's lighter, looks and sounds better than that thing BMW came up with.
-
Hmm... interesting. I kinda like the K whirr, actually. When I want noise, I get on the R - BRRRRAAAAPPPPP!!!! :tongue

I alternate bikes each week. It's like a revelation on each first ride, kinda like oh wow, I forgot how cool this bike is.
On the other hand, I just spent a week in the Qzarks and at MOA rally. Once I gathered camping gear and all the crap I take on the trip, I got a little lazy and rode the much lighter weight R bike.
R bike doesn't highway cruise as nicely as the K, but may be faster and easier in curves and switchbacks of MO and ARK.

The K-bikes are clearly a step toward modernity. But for beauty and effectiveness, there's never been an equal to the fairing on the R100RS models. And as for wrenchin' - if you are a "quality garage time" sorta guy, the old R-bikes are pure therapy. I just hate workin' on that K100RS! :loopy:

dunno ? the Parabellum Scout on my K 75 whip is a close cousin to the R 90 fairing.

That's kinda how they both hit me too, actually. Love 'em both.
