A hot ride like you experienced is not fun.
I overheated myself in Chicago attending a Mods & Rockers event.
Didn't get on the bike at all the next day, which is unusual for me.

You experienced high heat, high humidity and heavy NYC region traffic.  When I've ridden across the Great Plains to get to the Rockies, I now ALWAYS wear a camelback loaded with ice and cold water/tea/lemonaide to stay hydrated.  Dehydration is dangerous under any circumstances! :yow
