Title: What's on your ipod?
Post by: tsbt on June 19, 2012, 11:53:29 AM
This assumes you're cool with drowning out the brick with music while you ride.

Personally I prefer music that isn't sleepy. Like Motorhead with a good driving beat. You won't catch me listening to jazz I like to being as awake as possible  :yow

Better yet, have you got a favorite album for the road? a playlist that you can't live without? let's hear it.

Well, I dont have an ipod, i have a zune, and my droid.

I have a pretty big variety of stuff i listen to. Although my favorite road trip/ driving album is probably the "Garden State" soundtrack.

Sleepy music wise, I fell asleep at a slipknot concert. Although I am fine listening to mellow folk music. Not sure how that works.

Sometimes i stream internet radio. KOZT in fort bragg, ca is a great station. Big variety of music, good dj's, that actually choose what they play. I was listening to that for about 400 out of 550 miles today.

man, it really varies...

i like my old iPod classic just for the big "clicky" buttons (no touch screen)

Sometimes intense stretches of twisty road classical music or opera keeps my brain engaged (Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Carmen)

Hot sunny slabbing days call for Jimmy Buffet or something equally whimsical...

But, I also find Godsmack, Zeppelin, U2, Jack White, Mumford and Sons

Other times - just straight up old country (especially down south) George Jones, Twitty, Ol' Hank, Kristofferson, Alabama, George Strait

What about headphones, curious what everyone uses under the helmet? I've got some Sennheiser buds which sound incredible http://www.sennheiser.ca/live/senn/produit/en/1004/15 (http://www.sennheiser.ca/live/senn/produit/en/1004/15)  Trouble is they pop out of my ears sometimes as I put on the helmet, to be expected I spose.

Westone 1 Earphones (http://www.earphonesolutions.com/westone-1-earphone.html). Never pop out as they fit almost inside the ear. Use the 3 flange silicone ear pieces with these, cut down to fit.

For ALL your earphone needs. (http://www.earphonesolutions.com/?utm_source=cactusconnect&utm_medium=email&utm_content=banner&utm_campaign=july411)

I run a 3rd gen Nano on my leg in an H2O Audio waterproof case.(made for swimming so it's VERY waterproof - works well even with winter gloves on)

I used to use JVC Marshmallow earbuds but I tried some of the H2O ear buds and they stay in my ears a litttle better so that's what I use now.

I use my Ipod Classic with a Camos WirEvo Bluetooth to my Camos BT300 helmet system.

My music selection on the Ipod ranges from contemporary Christian to Buddy Holly, Skynard, Hendrix, and Boston.
I also have a selection of Engval and Foxworthy....... to keep a ride interesting....

Thanks Mystic, I've seen these before, always wondered :hmm: I'm sold on the never-pop-out-factor, checked the specs fidelity seems pretty darned good too.

Love the access, Duck. Especially nice when you get off the bike that you can take it with you - as apposed to the painful: cord-still-attached-to-tankbag-ear-yank.

You have multiple options for ear pieces. One will work for you. I was going to have custom molds done but it's really not necessary when you find the right piece and size for you. The first time my wife said something to me on the intercom, I looked over my shoulder cause it sounded so true to life. YRMV
