How do you 'break' the one that is behind the starter? I just bought an impact wrench today because another bolt was stuck but the impact wrench doesn't fit in there for this one. Even with an 1/2 inch drive extension, it won't work, since it is at an angle and the battery supports are in the way. Is there a special tool to get in there for this one? Getting frustrated and the bike is in a billion pieces on the floor. Stores have closed for the day too.

Remove the coils. Use a GOOD Allen wrench (like the ones in the factory tool kit) and a use piece of pipe (or the lug wrench extender) to get some leverage on it. Make sure that the Allen wrench is seated all of the way into the cap head.

Nope. I've tried that and still no go. Used the factory wrenches and others. It has slipped out a good many times and now seems beyond hope unless there is some kind of angle/pivot attachment for the impact wrench. I've seen on the web where bolts can be heated but BMW books say don't do it, plus I don't have a torch but that would be too dangerous in my opinion. I also used some penetrating oil but no luck. I did remove the coils but the f'ing bolt is stuck in
a bad position (can't lean on it with down pressure - no room to turn there. Starter and alternator are also off.

Sounds like you may have stripped the bolt head because you didn't have it seated properly in the first place and didn't have good leverage. Once you screw up an Allen cap head you are pretty much screwed.
At this point I'd recommend just drilling the head off with a decent drill bit. Once you have the tranny off there will be plenty of remaining threads there to remove the remaining stud with a pair of Vise-Grips.

That will be the final resort. I think I still have enough head left to impact it off with a u-joint adapter. If not, I'll have to find a curved drill bit to get in there :loopy:

you might need to use a die grinder or a dremel. cut in sideways.

Good news, I got it off with a wobble extension on the impact wrench. Got the splines all lubed and back together. Just need to finish bolting the housing back tomorrow after I get the new bolts from Wolf BMW. Fastenal didn't have the right size on hand and only sells them in packs of 50! I got four on hold at Wolf. The splines on then transmission side were very dry. Hopefully lubing them up will help with my down shifting.
Hopefully I'll have the bike on two wheels tomorrow.

Good news, I got it off with a wobble extension on the impact wrench.
I got to add one of those to my collection.

OK, putting things back together now. Where is the battery breather tube supposed to hang? I know the terminals to the front and tube on the left but where do you route it?

There is a small hole in the gearbox housing, above the swing arm.
