Got a new to me K1100LT awhile back with only 9K on the clock. Had a few problems, both master cylinders leaked (fixed) and a few other minor things. But it does have a pretty good leak coming out of the rear main seal or most likely the O-Ring. I have dug into several K100's before fixing this problem but not a K1100 yet. My question is should I dismantle the whole drive line or take out the tranny and drive line in one piece ? I have seen pictures doing it both ways. The bike only has 13K on it now. Also do I really need to disconnect the brake lines from the ABS pump or can I work around it ? Any other advise is appreciated. Thanks in advance...........

I would dismantle it and do some greasing on the pivot bearings at the same time. The old grease on those bearings wont be doing a very good job anymore.
As for the ABS you don't need to disconnect any lines.

Seriously guys, Its not the first time someon has said this on here - how the hell do you gaet the driveline out without removing the ABS system and therefore needing to blead brakes - I have been into the back end of my k1100 twice now and both times have had to remove the ABS system and disconnect the rear caliper

Strap it to the left frame rail.

Is there enough "play in the solid lines to do that? I'm pretty sure there's not in mine

They are not solid. They can be bent. (within reason)
