Title: Leaky hose coming out of the "box" under the gas tank of my 92 K100RS
Post by: tsbt on May 12, 2012, 10:42:09 AM
Pardon my ignorance for the names but couldn't figure out the part, it's a hose right under the gas tank coming out of a box that leaks and is running down the side of the engine housing. these pictures will describe. It's on the left side buried behind everything. Thoughts?

Damn your pics are a bit confusing.

Appears to be the FI return hose.

Semi dangerous to run with a cracked hose, read FIRE at 36 psi is NOT a good thing.

Best to replace the injection rail & vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator at the same time.

You''ll need FI rated hose and FI rated clamps as the OEM clamps are Otiker single use.

I have a pictorial how to FAQ on hose replacement somewhere. Unable to find it presently. When I get back from cousins wedding tonight, I search more diligently.   Pain in the ass tearing into the airbox the first time around for the return hose R&R.

Close inspection on my whip makes me now think it's the crankcase re-breather hose now instead of the FI fuel return hose as you have a pic with the TPS included.

Far easier fix _______________.

The hose is leaking oil right ?

It looks to me like it's your block vent line.
part # 11 15 1 461 835

It runs from a stub on the rear of the block and runs to the air box.

Very common for this line to be cracked and leaking oil/vacuum.
This was one of the lines that lead me to replace ALL of the rubber hoses(less the intake stub tubes), lines, o-rings, etc... that I could find or get at on my '95 a couple of years ago.
Plain and simple they were bad from age, not mileage.

Thanks Gary big relief. Made quite a mess I got worried there.

Smart move Scott, I noticed a few others that are starting to crack around there also. Might do the same.

Funky breather hose mainly affects idle, EASY R&R.

EASY R&R.

Not so much on a 4V K.  Not out in the open like it is on a 2V.

Hey Mystic, thanks. Love how each time I find something weird on my K I get a new detailed and highly documented procedure. Nice one much appreciated for the full deal.

At this point my mechanic Chuck is wondering if I'm seeing another woman. :bmwsmile
