Title: Parking Brake

I have learned the hard way about parking my LT on a down slope, I am getting ready to head to Eureka Springs in the near future and was wandering if any damage might be done to the front brake system by placing a strap around the front brake lever for extended periods of time? Mine has sure had a penchant for falling over recently, I guess it thinks I need the extra exercise.

If you park it with the trans in gear, it shouldn't move.
If it is, you have other issues that need looked into.

I wouldn't strap the brake handle like you suggest for an overnight stint.

If you on a slope, park it facing uphill.  And leave it in 1st.  Should be fine,

Thanks for the replies, I had hesitations with leaving it in gear cause I've been bit twice doing that. The PO had safety wired the sidestand switch closed so needless to say their were 2 occasions where I let out on the clutch whilst leaned over on the side stand only to ride the bike to the ground, I call it the revenge of the Strom, that bike built some bad habits that are hard to break. I have since corrected the sidestand switch so leaving it in gear should not be an issue any more.

I also learned the hard way about not leaving a bike in gear when parked.
I had an 81 Yamaha with a full fairing, parked on side stand in neutral, a big wind came up from behind and literaly pushed the bike forward to the point that the side stand folded and the bike fell over.  :eek:

Have friend with a R1100RT who watched this happen to his bike out the window of a restaurant in Montana. So he started putting it on the center stand a saw it lifted up and forward off it at a job site up in Airway Heights.
