Title: ABS functioning newbie question
Post by: Hump on May 04, 2012, 11:29:08 AM
Seattle Craigslist has a '92 K75S for sale. The seller sounds pretty legit and the bike relatively well cared for. It's issue is that the ABS is non-functional. Supposedly the Brain is good but something else keeps malfunctioning. I've read the ABS overview in the Lieberry. My question is this:

If I don't repair the ABS in the near future, are their any other repercussions from running the bike longer term with the ABS system non-functional? Are there impending safety problems or some system component degenerization? Red idiot light annoyance seemed like the main problem. I'd like to confirm that there are no safety/mechanical/electrical problems running the bike this way.

I will fix it eventually, but won't have the $ immediately.

Thanks for your help.

Jeff

A faulted ABS system is just like running a bike without ABS.  Not an issue.

The biggest expenses will be trial and error finding the right tape to cover the idiot lights up!

That's how I "fixed" mine too!  Maybe someday I'll work on figuring it out but it sure hasn't been a priority yet.

If it's in Seattle then bring it by my place and I can tell you what's wrong with it.
