Title: Refurbing knee pads?
Post by: RockyMountainRider on April 27, 2012, 12:12:46 AM
Anyone have any idea how to make them black again?  Mine are faded and have over-spray on them from the previous owner.
I don't want to pull them and get them coated - was thinking there may be some black rub-on coating available?  Ideas?
Cheers.

A dude at a local LineX shop did a pair for me for $10 cash.  I was lucky and dropped by when he had a job in progress so he pocketed the $10 and had then done in 5 minutes.

I'd be concerned about that treatment bleeding onto your pants over time.

I don't have knee pads on mine, so I can't verify it would work on them in particular, but...

Vinylex does a good job at rejuvenating faded black plastic/rubber bits.

Go to a proper paint store and buy paint formulated for plastic.  Cage bumpers are very often plastic these days and there are any number of paint manufacturers who offer finishes for such applications.  Mask them and paints them!
