I recently bought a low seat off EBay that was listed as fitting a 86 - 91 K100LT or K1100LT. I ended up not using it because the cruise control mod I did on my bike took up space underneath the seat so it wouldn;t have fit anyway. This is a hinged type seat. My problem is I want to sell it and so far I have not been able to find it using the online parts fiche (I am trying to verify the bike models it was designed for). The BMW part number listed on the bottom of the seat is: 52.53-2 309.860 A There is also another identification: Fehrer 122243 I presume Fehrer is the manufacterer. I have attached a picture.
Does anyone know what model bikes this seat is designed for, or is there an online site where I can search by part number? All the fiches I have used require you to select a model, equipment area, etc. Thanks very much. Seat looks brand new BTW.

The numbers you find on a seat won't match any parts fiche.
If it's hinged it's not a low seat. What you have there is a BMW "Comfort" seat.

If it's hinged it's not a low seat.
It is a hinged model which is lower than standard part #52 53 2 324 577,
but not as low as the sliding model tough.

OK, that helps. How do I determine what model bikes it will fit if the part number does not match the microfiche?

If the seat pan goes down between the frame tubes in front, it fits K11`s.
If not, advert it as PO did......K100 -86 on.

Yep, that's the key part. Will also fit K100RS4V bikes.
You can use it on a 2V bike if you swap in the low seat L-Jetronic holder without the toolbox.

Well, the seat pan definitely goes down towards the front, so that must be it. Thanks guys...
