Title: Crashbar's Spring Shakedown
Post by: CrashBar on April 16, 2012, 06:17:17 AM
It's been a long (if snowless) winter of projects on my '93, 117K mile K11 LT.   New paint, new fork springs, a Corbin Gunfighter and Rapid Transit tank bag for day trips, plus a bunch of other little fixes.

Finished putting everything together Saturday AM.  Rode from one end of Rt 2 (North Cambridge) clear across Massachusetts to the New York border, over the Taconic Trail, up 22 and then over to Vermont, and clear across 9 to Brattleboro.  Everything held together nicely, and the new fork springs (Sonic Springs) are wonderful.  Dropped the fork tubes about 3/8" and I could feel the handling difference as well. No bags, plus no radio and no stock exhaust must drop 50 pounds off the stock weight, makes for a very fun ride.  Roads were clear and sand free, although Western Ma and Southern Vermont are still recovering from road washout after Hurricane Irene.

Up early sunday after spending the night in Brattleboro (super 8 / 99 resturaunt, living the dream) and back to Boston in one shot, in time to take my daughter to lunch.   300 miles in all.  A good start to my 13th season on this bike.

This is looking south on the Vt side, Hogback Mountian, back at the area the first photo is from (North Adams, Rt 2).
