Title: 1993 K75S - OEM Rear Shock Measurement
Post by: GasStation on March 25, 2012, 12:08:21 AM
Do you have an OEM rear shock on your K75S?

What does your rear shock measure from eye bolt to eye bolt?

My OEM rear shock measures 349-350mm.

I just purchased a Wilbers 630 and it measures 344mm which is a little less than 1/4" shorter. Wilbers states that 344mm is the manufacturer's standard rear shock measurement for a K75S.

Here are two pics, one is of the OEM shock removed, while the other is the brand new out-of-the-box Wilbers 630 wonder from Germany:

New Wilber 641 on the GS was slightly longer than OEM stock Showa, ____ NO issues.

You will LOVE the Wilber !  GREAT pogo stick, BIG difference in overall handling.

Hello and thanks for the warm welcome.

Yes sir, those are brand new Spiegler brake lines. I have them front and rear. I figured the 20-year old OEM brake lines had accomplished their job and so I elected to change them "on spec". There was nothing wrong with them, no leaks, fissures, or even cracks. I got a special order (no extra charge) for the front brake hose as I changed my S-bars to C-bars and needed a longer length than on the S-bars. Very accommodating those folks at Spiegler despite the mix-up in hose length for the hose connected to the right front brake calliper.

I don't know much about shocks but am willing to learn. I had a choice between the OEM, Progressive, Ohlins and Wilbers. So, the top adjusts what? And the bottom adjusts what?

Spiegler doesn't wrap them in a plastic tube?  I thought that was a requirement for them to be DOT street legal.

Not that I care.  Just curious. I have the exact same setup on the rear of my K75. (Galfer stuff in the front.)

My speiglers came with a coating on them. I got them with the smoked coating.

here is a thread on how to adjust rear shocks:  http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,1460.msg6911.html#msg6911  (http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,1460.msg6911.html#msg6911)

Thanks WayneDW for the link, I will read and bone up on the theory of shocks.

Frankenduck, the lines are coated with a rubber or nylon coating. Mine is transparent as I was too cheap to pay the extra $20USD for the coloured version.

BTW, I browsed through your thread on the rebuild of a K75 - truly amazing! I am impressed, well done!
