Title: Fuel level sending unit compatability

Does anyone know if a fuel level sending unit from a 1994 K75S would work in a 1990 K75S? They have different part numbers listed on Max BMW for pre- and post-1993. The post-1993 is also the same part listed for the K1100RS. I'm guessing they won't work, but was wondering if someone knew otherwise... or if someone knows what's different about them.
