Title: First ride of the season (in WA)
Post by: frankenduck on March 23, 2012, 08:58:42 PM
The sun was kind of out today so I motobricked some afternoon errands.  Since the $300 Funkybrick was closest to the garage door I took that.  After my errands I took a little ride along Lake Washington Blvd.

After all of the work I did to it it is humming like a moe. :bmwsmile

(It actually cost me $500 last August but I stole the lock cores for another project from the "upholstered" side cases that came with it and sold them on Craig's List for $200 so now I call it the $300 Funkybrick.  See below for a picture of what the cases looked like.)

excellent!
I'm still putting mine back together from the winter projects.  The extraordinarily early warm weather has messed with my schedule.  I expected it to still be snowing in March.  Should be done Sunday afternoon, and then ready to ride!

Good to see you are out riding again. Here it is around 8-9 at night but still 20 during the day so we just keep riding all year.
I do think sometimes that riding all year has its disadvantages in that there is no off time to do big jobs and most of the time they are rushed so as to make another rally of ride.

Dedicated bricKhead's own at least 2 K bikes to prevent the dreaded down time syndrome Rick.

1989 K 100 RS stashed in my buddy's barn awaiting a restore. $800, needs a fuel pump, battery, fluid swap and a general electrical go over to be road worthy. Ha, only 56,00 miles on her. Only negative is tired paint. man o man, shocked how expensive new paint is unless you DIY.

Akin to duck, I unloaded the saddlebags for a premium price, bike total cost to yours truly was only $400.  :bmwsmile :bmwsmile

Ahh.. the thrill of the first ride. I remember the first ride of this season on January 1st, 2012  at 9AM. When I hopped on the saddle I spent some time thinking back to the last ride of the prior season, which ended at 6 pm on December 31st, 2011.  It was a cool night here in Atlanta so the old K100RS had actually chilled down to about 45 or 50 degrees F by the morning.

I kept myself busy in the off season by topping off my brake fluid and having a beer. Or maybe I topped off my beer fluid and had a break. But anyway, I just wanted to empathize with everyone because sometimes people think that those of us who live in the South gloat about riding all year long and don't know what it is like to miss riding. Like Bill Clinton, we feel your pain   :tongue
