Title: Steering head bearings
Post by: billday on March 16, 2012, 09:01:22 PM
Hi everybody,

I'm taking apart my steering head tomorrow -- my bike's developed twitch at low speeds, and turning the bars from lock to lock causes scratchy/squeaky noises to come out.

Hoping I don't have to replace the bearings -- they're not expensive, I just don't want to use the time.

My question is, what is the appropriate grease to use on the bearings?

I usually use brake caliper grease. Very sticky.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic bearing grease.

I used some moly laden wheel bearing grease I had lying around the garage.    :dunno2:
