I have been using a BEP 3.0 slim fit ages now but with a Speedo that required a positive feed for the neutral light, and no gear indicator.
I recently bought a Speedo with a full gear indicator ability and neutral light - all that should be compatible with the bep 3.0 outputs of an earth once the logic is ran through it from the OEM gear cables.
The gear indicator is working properly - I have tested it.
The bep unit itself isn't providing an earth on ANY gear output, is there something specific I need to do with the box to make this work?
None of the jumpers on it are related to gear indication. Everything else is hooked up correct and works.
If I ground any of the gear selector wires to the Speedo, it lights up the appropriate gear. It's also been tested on a bench and works fine with a direct earth.
Am I missing something?
The units never got wet and has about 700 miles on it.

A 40 year-old gear indicator switch is always the first suspect because it is vulnerable to water infiltration and corrosion. There are several threads online concerning cleanup. You indicate you've tested it so moving on. Did you receive the supplement below with your initial BEP 3 instructions that describes gear indicator wiring? A link to the original PDF is attached below.

Hiya thanks yes I tested the three yellow wire outputs from the selector with a multimeter, they sequentially create an earth and then in neutral all are earthed.
I have no earth created on the bep output gear selector side. I do wonder if me not using the CC output is affecting the circuit somehow. I don't need that as a constant feed, I use the BAT output for constant (for Speedo memory) and then SWP for the switched live to turn the Speedo on with the key.
Something's amiss. I'm going to retest the gear outputs and see if they're not giving a true earth.
Even with a test light between the N output on the bep unit (should be earth) and the battery live, it doesn't light up.
Odd because I've seen others have this gauge working.

From the instructions I read in the purple section of the diagram I posted, I believe you are correct that not using the CC output is at the root of the problem, and that you do need the CC output in the circuit. It's certainly worth trying.

Ok an update and it gets odder. CC port only kicks out about 5v so that's great for LEDs, not much else.
1. When the Speedo switched live is plumbed into the switched live on the bep unit, neutral light doesn't work. Everything else fine.
2. When the Speedo live is plumbed into the permanent live, all the N and gear lights work fine. But only when the killswitch is set to OFF!
This doesn't make sense to me. What can possibly be causing an issue from the killswitch against the permanent feed? It could be a feed into the BEP that's coming from the OEM lunchbox plug?
So essentially, I reckon it's the killswitch being ON that's killing whatever connection is required by the BEP unit to display gears and neutral. I can't fathom it!
