Title: Electrical help ...
Post by: FTR on December 07, 2025, 03:42:37 PM
Hi all,

I'm in the process of putting my bike back together just to see if it will run before I take it all apart again to get the frame powder coated. I bought it as a non runner and as I took it apart I labelled everything I could, but there were a few lose wires which I couldn't identify so on putting the electrical back together I'm trying to work out what they are or where they go.

One is shown on the wiring diagram as "connection for additional instruments" - its a three pin with a brown, a green/black, grey/blue (although it looks more like black and grey to me, pic as below) - what additional instruments would these be?

Another is a single wire & connector on the main loom, green/brown - this is the oil pressure switch connection but there was no wire attached to this when I got the bike. How is the cable supposed to be routed from the main loom connection  to the OPS by the oil pump?

If anyone could fill me in I'd be grateful.

You have identified them correctly.

The additional instruments plug is for optional extras, for example a fuel gauge. If the bike was sold without optional extras, then nothing will be connected to it, unless other modifications were made later.

A lot of the wires come from the relay box, but two come from underneath, one from the hall sensors, and one from the oil pressure sensor. There is a hole in the plastic base near the coolant filler cap. If only the hall sensor wiring can be seen, the oil pressure wire may have fallen under. It looks like the base has been removed, but originally it came up from the right hand side, near the filler cap.

Thank you both, that’s very helpful.

I need to be looking at the bike to work out the OPS cable route you describe Daveson, will have a look once home from work.

Thanks again!

Thanks both, I got hold of a used OPS cable and managed to fish it through the tortuous route route round behind the water pump without having to take it all apart, so I'm calling that a win  :laughing1:. Might even be able to see if I can get it running at the weekend.
