Title: K75s gas tank repair
Post by: Kchop on August 26, 2025, 02:06:19 PM
Hey Group,

Is there a solvent I can use inside the gas tank to clean out the old coagulated gas. (working on a tank leak)

Also, can anyone tell me what the hose is for on the bottom of the filter screen from the fuel pump. The hose was laying loose in tank and prior to last replacement there was no hose attached.

this hose routes up to a small nipple or port near the inside top edge of the tank, under the fuel cap assembly, serving as a means to vent or equalize air/fuel vapors within the tank. But to my knowledge its not necessary to connect.

Cleaning out "coagulated gas" can be done with normal fresh gas and a brush like a dishwash brush (i found the Orb style brush easiest to use myself)
Otherwise sea foam could be used

Soaking the tank interior with white vinegar and brushing out the debris has worked well for many here. Verify the screen of the filter is not as tender as a cobweb. It's a necessary component.

that is an accurate and poetic description of my screen...
white vinegar overnight I'm guessing?? then brush out..

I'd get a new screen if that lyrical description is accurate. Euro Motoelectrics has them. (https://www.euromotoelectrics.com/category-s/1774.htm) You can mop up the vinegar. You might need to scrub off stubborn detritus with a Scotchbrite pad.

Do keep in mind if you use acidic cleaners that you must rinse your tank with plenty of water  otherwise itl bite into the aluminium leaving white stains or corrosion forming.

as usual, amazing advice...its working, other than me semi-poisoning myself sticking my face in to the tank hole..everything seems to be
coming along..
