Hi I was going to see if anyone could rate my splines. New to me 92 k75 63k miles. Looks like the original owner took good care of it. The guy I bought it from, not so much. I'm excited because I know final drive splines are kinda the death knell and couldn't inspect them before I plunked down money. Thanks.

Here's the female splines.

8.3
Pretty good for 63k and you'll easily get another 50k and more if you keep them lubed.

Awesome. Thanks! I bought some TS-60 spline lube for it.

Smart move. TS-60 the FD splines at every rear tire change and life will be good. It's probably overkill but much cheaper than replacing the drive shaft and FD. I have Scottish blood so I like to err on the side of cheapness.

Clean the shaft splines thoroughly before the application. Molybdenum bonds to surface metal; applying it over dirty splines lessens the effect of a new application.

Should I use chemical (brake clean)? I took a pick tool to the splines per Chris Harris. Thanks.

You're on the right path. Lacquer thinner, mineral spirits, brake cleaner or soap and water then wipe down with a rag.
