Title: K75s 1993 right blinker stops blinking if hot
Post by: WallyK75s on June 21, 2025, 08:24:09 AM
Hi -

I have a 1993 K75s with 45K on it that I have owned for a dozen years.

The right blinker begins to fail (fails to blink - just stays on) after things heat up. In cold weather, it takes longer to fail, in hot weather, it fails sooner.

I have swapped bulbs, left to right for instance, but failure stayed with right side only. New bulbs too.

Mechanic agreed that control unit probably getting hot (it's sitting on top of a heat source, right?) and didn't have any real solution for me (discussed as an aside off the clock while in the shop for something else - tires maybe).

Hazards work and left blinker works - neither ever fail like the right side. Both (front and back) just illuminate, without blinking. I can't swear to it, I do believe this right side correctly auto-cancels.

Anyone experience this or have a solution or suggestion?

I would say the flasher module in the relay box is going bad and needs to be replaced.

There is a special automotive Integrated circuit in it that goes bad.  You can get a replacement on eBay for a couple bucks, but if you aren't very experienced with servicing electronics it's best to leave it alone and just replace the module.
